I’ve read a few things about Apple in the past but normally I wouldn’t have touched this book with my nose pinched and my arms extended to their full length. I’m writing something about the man for work though, so I took a deep breath and clicked ‘order’.

I wasn’t surprised. What we have here is a well-researched text with a lot of detail and a strong sense of its own purpose (recounting the events of Steve Jobs’s life between his departure from Apple and his return after the failure of NeXT), but with practically no humour or humanity. People come and go, Steve says things, other people say things, computers are invented, digital animation is developed, billions of dollars are made and lost, the twentieth century becomes what it was.

It was published in 2001 so it’s missing Apple’s later renaissance.

You’ll yawn, you’ll flick to the back to see how much there is left to read. Oh, the hackery.
